Cleaning & Hygiene
Commercial kitchen detergents and rinsing chemistry must be selected for the cleaning task and the exact machine or surface. This route currently includes automatic warewashing detergents, rinse aids, descalers, manual dishwashing liquid, surface cleaners and manufacturer-specific oven cleaning or care products.
After three physical cleaning tools were corrected to the dedicated Cleaning Tools route, this audit found 52 active chemical or chemical-kit products from 12 brands. Start with the equipment model, task and supplier instructions; similar pack sizes do not prove that two chemicals are interchangeable.
Key factors to consider before purchasing. Our team can help you find the right fit — call or get a quote anytime.
Machine detergent performs the wash-stage cleaning job; rinse aid supports the final rinse and drying process. They are separate chemical roles, and a detergent-rinse pairing must follow the machine, dosing system and supplier instructions.
A detergent is selected for the routine wash task. A descaler targets mineral scale and has its own usage interval and compatibility limits. Do not substitute one for the other because both appear in a warewashing range.
Current Convotherm, Giorik, Merrychef, TurboChef, Turbofan and FED oven-care products are tied to named workflows or models. A general surface cleaner or manual dishwashing liquid is not evidence of oven-system compatibility.
Submit your kitchen requirements — our equipment specialists will send you a tailored shortlist of detergents, cleaning & rinsing chemistry that fits your budget, venue type and compliance needs.
Standards & Compliance
Confirm the exact product code, chemical role, liquid/tablet/powder format, pack quantity or volume, dosing method, named machine compatibility and whether a paired detergent, rinse or care product is required. Read the current label, safety data sheet and equipment manual before storage, handling, dosing or a product change.
This Category does not make one food-contact, sanitising, no-rinse, biodegradability, material-safety, universal-compatibility or cleaning-performance claim across all 52 products. Those facts must come from the selected SKU's current evidence.
FAQ
No. They perform different stages of a warewashing process. Match each exact product to the machine and dosing system, and confirm whether both are required in the supplier instructions.
Do not assume universal compatibility. Confirm the machine brand and model, dosing setup, water conditions where required and the exact detergent code in the equipment or chemical supplier guidance.
No. Compare the full product code and named role as well as volume. The current range includes different detergents, rinse aids, descalers and oven-care products in similar container sizes.
No. Descaling and routine washing are separate jobs. Use the exact descaler only at the method and interval supported by the equipment manual, label and SDS.
Why KW
KW keeps chemical products in this route while physical brushes, scrapers and pipe cleaners belong in Cleaning Tools. Send the machine brand and full model, current chemical code, water conditions if known, dosing setup, cleaning task and required pack format for an exact-product check. For a new machine, use the dedicated Commercial Dishwashers, Combi Ovens or High Speed Ovens route.
Deep Dive
Technical depth from KW's commercial kitchen specialists.
| KW route | Use it to compare | Boundary to keep clear |
|---|---|---|
| Detergents, Cleaning & Rinsing Chemistry | Machine detergents, rinse aids, descalers, manual wash liquid, surface cleaners and exact oven-care chemistry. | A shared cleaning task does not prove shared dosing, material safety or machine compatibility. |
| Cleaning Tools | Brushes, scrapers, pipe cleaners, mops and other physical cleaning items. | Three Merrychef physical tools were removed from this chemistry route during the audit. |
| Cleaning & Hygiene | The wider parent range, including tools, chemistry, pest control, dispensers and food-safety labels. | Use the narrower route once the job is known. |
| Commercial Dishwashers | Machine purchase and equipment-format intent. | Chemistry selection does not replace the machine's installation, commissioning or service requirements. |
| Soap / Paper Dispensers | Soap dispensers and personal-hygiene supply hardware. | Hand-hygiene intent is separate from warewashing and equipment-care chemistry. |
The audited range contains 15 automatic warewashing detergent products or detergent packs, nine rinse-aid products, three descalers, one manual dishwashing liquid, three surface cleaners and 21 oven cleaning, care, rinse or protection products. The brands are Aristarco, Convotherm, F.H.E, Giorik, Hobart, Jantex, Meiko, Merrychef, Simco, TurboChef, Turbofan and Washtech.
These counts describe the live catalogue at this audit and can change. Use the live grid and exact product page to confirm current availability and pack format.
Only use a product when the exact oven and chemical documentation supports it. Current oven cleaners, care products, tablets and protectors are tied to named brands, product codes or workflows.
RTU means ready to use. Do not apply concentrate dilution instructions to an RTU product; follow the exact label and SDS.
Use Cleaning Tools. This chemistry route is for detergents, rinse aids, descalers, surface cleaners and supported chemical kits.
Send the machine brand and full model, existing chemical code, cleaning task, dosing setup, water conditions if known, required product role and preferred pack size. Keep the current label or SDS available when replacing a product.
| Current product | Published identity | Decision it demonstrates |
|---|---|---|
| Meiko D-UH 1891 HD, 2 × 5L and 15L | The same named detergent family appears in two current pack formats. | Confirm product code and pack requirement; volume alone is not chemical compatibility. |
| Meiko D-GM 1411 GLASS, 2 × 5L | The title identifies a glasswasher detergent. | Glasswasher intent should remain tied to the exact product rather than widened to every detergent. |
| Meiko R-UH 2891, 2 × 5L and 15L | These are rinse-aid products, not wash detergents. | Match chemical role, dosing system and pack format independently. |
| FED DH-PACK | Current title specifies Clear Wash and Rinse Aid, two 2L bottles. | A named combination pack is evidence that both roles are included; do not assume this for single-product listings. |
| Hobart HLB-20, 5L and Hobart HLP-7000, 10L | One current record is an alkaline dishwasher detergent; the other is a plastic rinse aid. | Brand alone does not make two chemicals interchangeable or establish a pair for every machine. |
The current shelf includes liquid, powder, tablet, spray and kit formats. Giorik SPGI.7080536 is a 120-tablet cleaning product whose current record names Steambox Evolution and Kore ovens. Giorik SPGI.7080533 is a separate 3 × 5L descale and rinse-aid product.
Convotherm CC10L ConvoClean and CCCARE15L ConvoCare have different cleaner and care/neutraliser roles. The current Merrychef range separately lists 32Z4024 cleaner spray and 32Z4025 protector spray. Match the exact product code and oven instructions; the sequence for one system is not a universal procedure.
| Job | Current exact example | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Manual dishwashing | Jantex FL830, 15L concentrate | Manual-use instructions, dilution and the current label; do not treat it as an automatic-machine detergent. |
| Machine descaling | Jantex HU546, 1L and Meiko Active Descaler, 2kg | Equipment compatibility, method, interval and SDS; a descaler is not the daily detergent. |
| Concentrated surface cleaner | Jantex HU548, 5L concentrate | Dilution, labelled surfaces and contact/rinse directions for the exact product. |
| Ready-to-use surface cleaner | Jantex HU549, 750ml RTU and HU551 neutral cleaner, 750ml RTU | Do not apply concentrate instructions to an RTU product or infer identical surface claims between the two. |
A chemical name or Category label is not a substitute for the current label, safety data sheet or equipment manual. Confirm storage, handling, personal protective equipment, dilution or dosing, compatible materials, required rinsing, disposal and emergency directions from those exact sources. Do not mix products or transfer a claim from one SKU to another.
This page intentionally does not say that every product kills bacteria, is safe for every food-contact surface, works in every dishwasher, protects every oven, is no-rinse, biodegradable or suitable for one universal dilution. Where those attributes matter, verify them for the exact code before purchase and use.
Before ordering, record the equipment brand and full model, current chemical or dosing-system code, cleaning task, product role, format, pack volume or unit count, required quantity and any named paired product. Confirm the selected SKU against the current machine manual, product label and SDS. For surface products, also record the intended material and whether the exact instructions require dilution, dwell time or rinsing. If replacing an existing chemical, identify the current product before planning a changeover.
